Job summary

Hamilton Barnes in Melbourne is seeking an experienced SOC Manager to lead its security operations centre, build and mentor a high-performing team, and deliver client-focused cyber defense across environments.

You will balance hands-on security leadership with people management, driving detection, investigation and response to evolving threats while improving processes and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a SOC or security operations team.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM, EDR/XDR and threat detection.
• Experience managing incidents and major security events.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of SOC analysts and security professionals.
• Oversee security monitoring, alert triage, threat detection and incident response.
• Drive incident escalation, investigation and resolution processes.
• Improve SOC procedures, playbooks, workflows and operational efficiency.
• Monitor service delivery, operational performance, SLAs and key metrics.
• Develop detection and response capabilities to address emerging threats.
• Support major incident management and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve security tooling.
• Work with clients and internal teams to maintain service quality.
• Mentor technical staff and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
