Job summary

Workday is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to manage and scale major database environments. You will work on large-scale MySQL and PostgreSQL deployments across production and development, participate in on-call rotations, and push automation to improve uptime and efficiency.

The role requires deep experience with Linux, containers, and cloud platforms, plus strong scripting in Python or Go. A flexible hybrid work model is available in Australia.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience managing databases for enterprise cloud applications at scale.
• 3+ years of experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in private/public cloud (AWS/GCP).
• Experience with managed cloud databases (AWS Aurora, Google Cloud SQL) and HA/DR concepts.
• Background as Database Engineer/Architect/DRE on Linux-based, open-source stacks.
• Proficient in Python or Go; scripting in Shell/Ruby a plus.
• Experience with Linux, containers, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production workloads on MySQL/PostgreSQL or open-source databases.

Responsibilities

• Support large-scale MySQL and PostgreSQL environments in production and development.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical production issues.
• Drive automation to improve availability and scalability of databases.
• Help architect and evolve database services for production environments.
