Job summary

Norco is seeking an experienced Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator to take control of quality systems at our rebuilt ice cream manufacturing site in Lismore. You will implement Norco’s quality strategy, ensure products are safe and manufactured to specification, and lead the laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science (Food Science/Microbiology/Chemistry) or equivalent.
• Food Laboratory experience, especially in dairy.
• Experience leading a team and coaching others.
• Strong HACCP and GMP knowledge.
• Knowledge of factory hygiene and food microbiology.
• Demonstrated compliance to Quality / Safety standards.
• Safety-first mindset.
• Proactive approach to quality.

Responsibilities

• Implement and lead the quality strategy for the Lismore site.
• Maintain an effective Quality Management System for the site.
• Lead the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
• Lead the people processes for the laboratory team.
• Lead HACCP revisions and ensure compliance with site plans.
• Complete regular GMP audits of the factory and internal audits.
• Hold/release finished product and manage lab outcomes.
• Coordinate second level examinations on out-of-spec products and corrective actions.
• Coordinate raw material/packaging inspections and release.
• Coordinate sensory evaluation panel for finished products.
• Coordinate external testing program and environmental monitoring.
• Lead external accreditation audits and drive QA improvements.
• Coach others to align with our Code of Conduct and values.

Job description

Norco have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator to take control of the quality systems at our rebuilt ice cream manufacturing site at Lismore! The Senior Site Quality Assurance Coordinator is primarily responsible for implementing Norco’s quality strategy at our Lismore site and ensuring that our products are safe, defect free and manufactured to specification. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the site’s laboratory operates efficiently and effectively and meets Norco and applicable external standards. As a key supplier to international and major Australian clients, you will also take the lead on audits and work with the leadership team to ensure compliance. In this role, you will report to Norco’s Dairy Foods Quality Assurance Manager, and will also work closely with the supportive Norco Lismore site leadership team.

Key Duties And Responsibilities Include

• Implement and lead the quality strategy for the Lismore site.
• Maintain an effective Quality Management System for the site
• Manage day to day operations of the laboratory.
• Lead the people processes for the laboratory team
• Lead HACCP revisions and ensure compliance with the site HACCP plans.
• Complete regular GMP audits of the factory and participate in scheduled internal audits of the site.
• Hold/release finished product.
• Manage all micro and chemical lab outcomes
• Coordinate second level examinations on out of spec products and ensure corrective actions are completed by the agreed time.
• Coordinate raw material/packaging inspections and release.
• Coordinate sensory evaluation panel for finished products.
• Coordinate external testing program.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring program.
• Lead and participate in external accreditation audits.
• Lead and drive initiatives such as staff training, internal auditing and root cause analysis that deliver improvements to the site’s quality measures and overall quality standards.
• Lead by example and coach others to create a work culture in line with our Code of Conduct and values.

Selection Criteria

• Degree in Science (Food Science/Microbiology/Chemistry) or equivalent
• Food Laboratory experience required, dairy experience highly advantageous
• Experience leading a team and coaching others
• Strong understanding of HACCP and GMP principles
• Knowledge in factory hygiene and food microbiology
• Demonstrated compliance to Quality / Safety standards
• A safety first mindset
• Evidence of a proactive approach to quality
