Job summary

AFCA seeks a Sessional Ombudsman for Investment & Advice to participate in flexible, per-engagement dispute resolution. The role supports fair outcomes across I&A disputes, with engagements ranging from one day a week to several days monthly or longer-term arrangements.

The successful candidate is senior, legally qualified, with deep I&A sector experience and a proven leadership track record to guide assessments while balancing personal commitments.

Qualifications

• Legal qualifications with senior executive experience.
• Experience in financial planning, stockbroking, funds, cryptocurrency, or derivatives.
• Background in tribunals, EDR schemes, regulatory agencies, or private practice.
• Strong analytical skills to manage a busy caseload.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with insurers and the community.
• Ability to explain complex concepts simply.
• Ability to coach and mentor junior staff.
• Resilience and focus to handle scrutiny.
• Engagement skills to build positive relationships.
