Job summary

CMC Markets is seeking a Senior Application Security Engineer in Sydney to strengthen customer-facing trading platforms. You will provide hands-on security engineering across platforms, working with the APAC Security team and technology partners to identify risks and implement controls.

You’ll focus on securing stockbroking and trading platforms, guiding security across the SDLC, and driving improvements in tooling, monitoring, and detection.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Application Security or related roles.
• Experience securing customer-facing platforms and APIs, preferably in regulated industries.
• Hands-on with Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) and application security controls.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and identity concepts.
• Experience with cloud architectures and providing practical security guidance to engineering teams.
• Experience investigating and responding to security incidents affecting platforms or digital services.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement across technical and non-technical teams.
• Desirable experience in financial services, fintech or regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Guide security across the software delivery lifecycle with design reviews and controls.
• Design, implement and continuously improve security controls for customer-facing platforms and APIs.
• Partner with Engineering, Development and DevOps to embed security throughout design, development and operation.
• Advise on new platform capabilities and technology initiatives to identify security risks and controls.
• Support platform security capabilities including web app protection, identity security and cloud controls.
• Review vulnerabilities and pen test reports; drive remediation with engineering teams.
• Lead or support investigations and incidents affecting customer-facing platforms.
• Support Security Operations with technical expertise and security engineering initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvements to security tooling, monitoring and detection.
