Job summary

Virtual IT Group is hiring a Senior Security Engineer (Zero Trust) to design, implement, and optimize modern Zero Trust solutions with emphasis on Zscaler, SSE, and ZTNA. • 5+ years in network and security engineering with Zero Trust background.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Security Engineer (Zero Trust), you'll design, implement, and optimise modern Zero Trust solutions with a strong focus on Zscaler, SSE, and ZTNA technologies. Acting as a trusted advisor and technical lead, you'll help strengthen security outcomes for both VITG Group and our customers through scalable, business-aligned solutions. Initially, you'll play a key role in VITG Group's internal Zero Trust transformation before moving into a dedicated customer-facing engineering role.

Working alongside four certified ACES professionals, you'll help shape the future of Zero Trust security for both our business and our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, build, configuration, and deployment of secure Zero Trust, SSE, and ZTNA solutions with a strong focus on Zscaler.
• Design and implement security architectures for both internal platforms and customer environments.
• Optimise security platforms to improve performance, user experience, and reduce false positives.
• Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex security and connectivity issues.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the business.
• Collaborate with Sales and customers during presales engagements, solution design, and delivery planning.
• Author technical solution designs and contribute to Statements of Work.
• Deliver strategic customer advice, roadmap planning, and security improvement recommendations.
• Lead customer workshops, meetings, and quarterly business reviews as a senior technical SME.
• Implement and maintain secure configurations, policies, agents, and integrations.
• Ensure solutions align with compliance requirements, security best practices, and audit standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for both customers and internal security platforms

Qualifications and Experience:

• Has led the build, configuration, and deployment of secure SSE/ZTNA solutions, specifically focusing on Zscaler implementations.
• 5+ years' experience in network and security engineering, with a strong Zero Trust, SSE, or ZTNA background.
• Extensive experience supporting, managing, and optimising Zscaler environments.
• Proven experience acting as a senior technical escalation point for operational and support teams.
• Experience leading presales engagements, technical solution delivery, and security architecture initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles and modern security architecture frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex cyber risk into practical business outcomes and recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, consulting, and communication skills.
• Experience working across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
