Job summary

The University of Western Australia (UWA) is seeking a Senior Technician (Safety) to drive WHS advice and develop safe work procedures across diverse teaching and research environments. This is a 1x full-time appointment and 1x part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing position with the opportunity to contribute to risk management and compliance.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or demonstrated equivalent.
• Experience in risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
• Experience with hazardous substances, lab safety, or fieldwork is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to train and advise staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide WHS advice and develop localised safe work procedures to support staff and students.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and university safety systems by supporting facilities, equipment, and processes.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to foster a proactive safety culture and effectively manage operational risks.
