Job summary

John Holland is seeking a Senior Safety Advisor to lead and maintain robust safety practices across the Torrens to Darlington Alliance in Adelaide. You will implement HSE systems, provide guidance to leadership and subcontractors, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance on the 78 km corridor project.

You will mentor safety staff, oversee incident investigations, risk assessments and SWMS development, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and project requirements while fostering

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Safety Advisor on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Relevant WHS qualifications and up-to-date knowledge of legislation.
• Proven ability to lead safety initiatives across multiple interfaces and contractors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders.
• Experience developing, reviewing and implementing safety documentation and improvement programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) systems across site operations.
• Provide expert safety advice to project leadership, teams and subcontractors for compliance.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and assurance activities to identify hazards.
• Support the development and review of SWMS, risk assessments, permits and emergency plans.
• Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate controls are in place.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and actions.
• Engage with supervisors, engineers and workers to promote a strong safety culture.
• Lead safety initiatives, toolbox talks and campaigns to improve safety awareness.
• Track safety performance, analyze trends and report to project management.
• Mentor Safety Advisors and contribute to proactive safety culture across the project.
