Job summary

Santos Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer to provide holistic engineering support for mechanical rotating equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation across upstream activities.

You will be the technical expert for rotating equipment reliability, collaborating with operations, maintenance and project teams to drive performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with RPEQ and Chartered Engineer status (or eligible).
• 10+ years in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industry.
• Certified Vibration Analyst - Category 1 (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Own Reliability Management Plans (RMPs) for rotating equipment.
• Provide technical advice and support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Optimize maintenance strategies using RCM, FMEA and Defect Elimination.
• Lead reliability investigations and report findings to senior management.
• Deliver proactive technical surveillance on mechanical rotating equipment.
• Manage equipment obsolescence and vulnerabilities.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams on replacements.

What You'll Do

Based from the Brisbane office, as the Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, you'll provide holistic engineering support for mechanical rotating equipment - ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation to achieve business outcomes across Santos' upstream operations.

You'll be the go-to technical expert for rotating equipment reliability, working closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to drive equipment performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Own Reliability Management Plans (RMPs) for rotating equipment
• Provide technical advice and support to operations and maintenance teams
• Optimise maintenance strategies using RCM, FMEA, and Defect Elimination methodologies
• Lead reliability investigations and report findings to senior management
• Deliver proactive technical surveillance on mechanical rotating equipment
• Manage equipment obsolescence and vulnerabilities
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams on replacement and improvement initiatives
• Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree with RPEQ & Chartered Engineering status (or eligibility)
• 10+ years' experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industry
• Certified Vibration Analyst - Category 1
• Competent in CMMS (preferably SAP)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
