Job summary

Santos seeks a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer based in Brisbane to provide comprehensive engineering support for mechanical rotating equipment. You will ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation across upstream activities and serve as the technical expert on rotating equipment reliability.

You will work with operations, maintenance and project teams to drive equipment performance, lead investigations, and mentor junior engineers in a dynamic, values-driven environment at Santos.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with RPEQ and Chartered Engineering status (or eligibility).
• 10+ years' experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industry.
• Certified Vibration Analyst — Category 1.
• Competent in CMMS (preferably SAP).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own Reliability Management Plans (RMPs) for rotating equipment.
• Provide technical advice and support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Optimise maintenance strategies using RCM, FMEA, and Defect Elimination methodologies.
• Lead reliability investigations and report findings to senior management.
• Deliver proactive technical surveillance on mechanical rotating equipment.
• Manage equipment obsolescence and vulnerabilities.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams on replacement and improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and develop graduate and junior engineers.

What you’ll do:

Based from the Brisbane office, as the Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer, you'll provide holistic engineering support for mechanical rotating equipment — ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation to achieve business outcomes across Santos' upstream operations.

You'll be the go-to technical expert for rotating equipment reliability, working closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to drive equipment performance and continuous improvement.
