Job summary

BDO Australia, Brisbane, is seeking Senior Consultant to join its Internal Audit & Risk team. You will lead internal audit engagements, assess risk controls, and advise clients across industries on governance improvements and assurance frameworks.

You will mentor juniors, manage multiple client engagements, and contribute to business development while partnering with clients across various sectors to add value and strengthen risk management practices.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in internal audit, risk consulting, governance, controls or related field.
• Experience delivering client-facing projects and managing multiple priorities and engagements.
• Strong skills in risk assessment, audit planning and control evaluation.
• Understanding of internal control frameworks and control effectiveness testing.
• Ability to communicate findings and develop practical recommendations.
• Knowledge of risk management and governance frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO.

Responsibilities

• Leading internal audit engagements from planning and risk assessment through to fieldwork, reporting and stakeholder presentations.
• Conducting process walkthroughs, control testing and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Developing practical, value-adding recommendations that strengthen governance and controls.
• Assessing and enhancing enterprise risk management frameworks and governance structures.
• Supporting design and implementation of risk, compliance and assurance frameworks.
• Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor on risk and governance.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members and contributing to a high-performing culture.
• Assisting with business development activities, including proposals and opportunities to add value.
