Job summary

BDO Australia is seeking a Senior Consultant to join the Internal Audit & Risk team in Brisbane. You will lead diverse engagements across internal audit, risk management and advisory services for a broad range of clients, strengthening governance and control environments.

You will collaborate with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to proposals while delivering high-quality outcomes in a dynamic professional services setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in internal audit, risk consulting, governance, controls or related field.
• Experience delivering client‑facing projects and managing multiple priorities.
• Strong risk assessment, audit planning and control evaluation skills.
• Understanding of internal control frameworks and control testing.
• Ability to communicate findings and develop practical recommendations.
• Knowledge of risk management and governance frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal audit engagements from planning through reporting and stakeholder presentations.
• Conduct process walkthroughs, control testing and risk assessments.
• Develop practical recommendations to strengthen governance and controls.
• Support design and implementation of risk, compliance and assurance frameworks.
• Build client relationships and act as a trusted advisor on risk matters.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in business development activities.
