Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond, WA seeks a Senior RF/Microwave Engineer for Satellites (Starlink) to design, simulate, and verify RF hardware powering satellites and ground links. You will partner with system architects, RF/antenna engineers, DSP/ASIC teams to optimize hardware/software partitioning and performance.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 5+ years in RF/microwave design, and hands-on use of 3D EM tools; knowledge of Ku/Ka bands and Matlab/Python is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer engineering, physics or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of RF/microwave circuit design experience.
• 1+ year of experience with 3D EM tools (CST, HFSS, FEKO, SEMCAD, EMPro, TICRA or XFDTD).

Responsibilities

• Simulate and model communication systems.
• Work with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, modem/DSP, and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains.
• Assess feasibility of various designs in support of architectural definition.
• Derive top-level specifications for RF links and RF and antenna subsystems.
• Characterize and analyze system performance.
• Provide technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams.
