Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for Starlink satellites in Redmond, WA. You will own hardware from ideation to high‑volume production and on‑orbit operation, solving complex structural and thermal challenges across multiple sub‑teams.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and drive design for manufacturability, packaging, and integration, while maintaining schedule and cost targets. A strong CAD/FEA background and leadership potential are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages required.
• 5+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high volume production and on orbit operation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system‑level optimization.
• Iterate designs and analysis to inform system trades and steer product direction.
• Drive DFM to reduce part count and ensure robust fabrication and integration.
• Balance cost, complexity, and quality across the production line.
• Perform environmental and performance testing to validate design criteria.
• Own delivery timelines from conception to launch.
