Job summary

Victim Assist Queensland is seeking a temporary flexible full-time AO6 Senior Review Officer to undertake evidence-based decision making and provide financial assistance to victims of crime. You will be appointed by the Chief Executive as a Government Assessor and play a role in enhancing operational policy.

The role involves complex decision making, delivering responsive client services, maintaining records, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure efficient VAQ service delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Undertakes evidence-based decision making in line with the Act.
• Deliver quality services to clients using VAQ policies and systems.
• Conduct case-management of applications for financial assistance within timeframes.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships to ensure efficient VAQ service delivery.
• Provide analysis and advice to the Executive Manager on operational policy.
• Conduct research related to victims of crime and stay updated on relevant legislation.
• Represent VAQ at QCAT hearings.

An exciting opportunity exists to join Victim Assist Queensland on a temporary flexible full-time basis as an AO6 Senior Review Officer

As the Senior Review Officer, you will be appointed by the Chief Executive as a Government Assessor to undertake evidence-based decision making in line with legislative intent to provide financial assistance to victims of crime.

You will also play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities to enhance operational policy.

Key responsibilities:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Undertakes complex evidence-based decision making in accordance with the Act.
• Deliver quality and responsive services to clients through the application of VAQ resources, policies, processes, systems and technologies.
• Effective case-management of applications for financial assistance, including accurate record-keeping, meeting objectives and progressing work within legislated timeframes.
• Maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of VAQ services.
• Undertake comprehensive analysis and provide advice to the Executive Manager on operational policy and legislative issues relating to VAQ service delivery.
• Conduct relevant research related to victims of crime and maintain up to date and in-depth knowledge of the Act and other relevant legislation.
• Represent VAQ at Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) hearings.
