Job summary

Housing Australia is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Banking & Finance Law) to lead transaction structuring and execute complex debt deals. The role requires extensive experience in finance documentation, advising on deal structures and coordinating with internal teams and external advisers.

You will provide leadership on risk, documentation best practices, and delivery excellence across multiple transactions, supporting Housing Australia's housing finance programs and policy alignment.

Qualifications

• Banking and finance legal expertise gained in private practice or in-house environments.
• Senior commercial advisory capability to balance commercial outcomes and risk.
• Advanced drafting and negotiation of finance, security, intercreditor documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead transaction structuring and legal advisory, partnering with investment teams to deliver commercially sound, risk-aligned outcomes.
• Oversee documentation strategy and quality, ensuring documents are accurate, consistent and aligned with approvals and policy frameworks.
• Drive risk management by identifying, assessing and mitigating legal, commercial and structural risks.
• Orchestrate transaction delivery and team contribution, coordinating stakeholders and optimizing processes.
