Job summary

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is recruiting for multiple full-time roles across NSW to support public infrastructure reconstruction and disaster recovery coordination. You will liaise with councils, state agencies and the Authority to guide funding and deliver on-site technical support during disaster events.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing infrastructure projects including planning, prioritisation and funding.
• Experience working with local governments to support disaster recovery or routine infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice for disaster recovery projects by guiding councils through infrastructure funding processes and delivering on-site technical support during disaster events.
• Provide technical guidance to councils for identifying and preparing infrastructure funding claims under DRFA Category B.
• Act as the main infrastructure contact for councils, including attendance at Emergency Operations Centres and regional committees.
• Resolve technical challenges in disaster recovery projects by liaising with councils, agencies, and internal teams.
• Monitor council capacity for disaster-related construction projects and provide feedback for capacity-building initiatives.
• Contribute to infrastructure recovery reporting and program tracking to align with reconstruction objectives.

About The Role

You’ll support NSW communities recover and build resilience against natural disasters. Delivering critical infrastructure recovery projects, you’ll serve as a key technical liaison between councils, state agencies, and the Authority.

• Provide advice for disaster recovery projects by guiding councils through infrastructure funding processes and delivering on-site technical support during disaster events.
• Provide technical guidance to councils for identifying and preparing infrastructure funding claims under Category B of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA) program.
• Act as the main infrastructure contact for councils, including attendance at Emergency Operations Centres and in local/regional emergency management committees.
• Resolve technical challenges in disaster recovery projects by liaising with councils, agencies, and internal teams.
• Monitor council capacity for disaster-related construction projects and provide feedback for capacity-building initiatives.
• Contribute to infrastructure recovery reporting and program tracking to ensure alignment with broader reconstruction objectives.

About You

You’ll bring a strong mix of technical expertise, collaboration, and a proactive approach to disaster recovery and infrastructure project coordination. You have a solid foundation in infrastructure delivery, with experience in both routine and disaster-affected environments. Navigating funding frameworks and supporting successful funding applications is part of your project delivery experience.

You’re an excellent communicator who can build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including councils, state agencies, and internal teams.

Essential Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in infrastructure delivery or disaster recovery.
• Experience in managing infrastructure projects, including planning, prioritisation, and funding.
• Experience in working with local governments to support disaster recovery, preparedness, or routine infrastructure delivery.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and address complex technical issues.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.
