Job summary

Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation – Maryborough QLD is seeking a Senior Ranger in the Technical Support Unit. You will collaborate with a dedicated team to protect and sustain coastal islands, engaging with First Nations partners and stakeholders to implement conservation strategies.

You will contribute to pest management, biodiversity protection and data-driven planning, while working autonomously within a dispersed team in a dynamic, field-focused role.

Qualifications

• Guide and support core programs including pest management and health check programs.
• Strong communications skills and the ability to support operational units deliver desired outcomes.
• Ability to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders of pest management, management planning, and engagement with our First Nations partners.
• Ability to interpret and implement department policy and legislative requirements to ensure pest, firearms, restricted poisons, general biosecurity obligations and biodiversity matters are met.
• High level writing and data presentation skills to contribute to management planning and the development of key thematic strategies.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a geographically dispersed team.
• Project management fundamentals including planning, reporting and budgets in liaison with relative units.
• Mapping and data collection skills (desirable, not mandatory).
• Willingness to listen, learn and participate.

• Ability to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders of pest management, management planning, and engagement with our First Nations partners.
