Job summary

John Holland is seeking a Senior Safety Advisor with a focus on structures for the Illabo to Stockinbingal rail project in regional NSW. This Sydney-based role will transition to on-site operations at Stockinbingal with a 2:1 roster.

The role reports to the Safety Manager and supports WHS functions across planning and execution phases. The candidate will lead safety inspections, training, incidents investigations, and liaise with regulators to uphold safety standards on complex rail

Qualifications

A relevant degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
Certifications such as CSP or Construction Safety Certificate are highly regarded.
Experience in safety roles within construction and large rail projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and risks.
Provide safety training to project staff and ensure regulatory compliance.
Investigate accidents and near misses to identify causes and corrective actions.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to embed safety in planning and design.
Review safety data and trends to identify improvements and implement proactive measures.
Lead emergency response and contingency planning.
Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders to ensure compliance.
Participate in safety meetings and project-wide safety initiatives.
