Job summary

Inland Rail is seeking a Safety Manager – Delivery I2S for the Illabo to Stockinbingal section on a fixed-term 18-month contract. You will lead the implementation of safety frameworks across project teams, provide expert WHS advice to directors and partners, and coach teams to promote a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading safety leadership across multidisciplinary delivery environments.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, injury management and return-to-work requirements.
• Experience implementing and improving safety management systems in large-scale projects.
• Experience with incident investigation methodologies including human factors.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS and rail safety frameworks across project delivery teams.
• Provide expert WHS advice to Project Directors, leadership teams and delivery partners.
• Coach and mentor project teams to foster a proactive safety culture through observations and risk management.
• Lead safety assurance, surveillance and audit activities to identify risks and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure contractor management systems align with Inland Rail safety requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Support safety-in-design reviews and assurance processes to manage risks SFAIRP.
• Lead or support incident investigations and implement practical recommendations.
• Oversee WHS and rail safety initiatives and track actions to completion.
• Champion consistency in safeworking practices across contractor and project teams.
• Drive compliance with SMS, EMS and IMS.
