Job summary

SMEC invites applications for a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Rail & Metro team in Melbourne. You will work with engineers, drafters and PMs on technical design input, coordination and delivery across rail projects locally and nationally.

We seek a candidate with 6 years’ rail design experience, strong knowledge of Australian codes, and hands-on experience with structural software. The role emphasizes collaboration, initiative and delivering high-quality reports and proposals.

Qualifications

6 years’ design experience in rail infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated design experience using relevant structural software.
Strong understanding of Australian codes and standards.
Relevant Engineering qualifications – with a focus in Structural Engineering.
Project management and hands-on experience, encompassing administrative, commercial and technical aspects.

Responsibilities

Coordinating the structural design and documentation for various rail projects locally and nationally.
Undertaking structural design components using software such as MIDAS, Space Gass, Autodesk and Microstran.
Reviewing structural designs to meet technical standards and client requirements.
Production of engineering reports and supporting tender proposals.
Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Contributing to the technical success of projects and the team.
