Job summary

Heaton Rail is seeking a Mid to Senior Systems Engineer to lead design, testing and validation of HVAC and Battery Thermal Management Systems for rail vehicles. This full-time, permanent role is based in Western Sydney and offers hands-on engineering across HVAC, thermal/fluid systems and BTMS, with opportunities for international travel and ongoing technical development.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Refrigeration Engineering, Thermal/Fluid Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with HVAC, thermal/fluid systems and BTMS is preferred.
• Hands-on design, testing and issue investigation across engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design activities from concept to production release.
• Design and develop HVAC, thermal/fluid and BTMS.
• Investigate technical issues through hands-on troubleshooting, testing and root cause analysis.
• Develop engineering specifications, requirements, test plans and validation activities.
• Work across engineering, manufacturing and project teams while supporting customer requirements.
