Job summary

Western Power is seeking a Senior Public Impact Specialist in Perth to lead public safety outcomes, manage notifiable investigations, and influence risk management across our network. The role combines technical insight with stakeholder engagement to protect communities and support reliable network operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction or another high-risk operational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across community, industry, contractors, developers and government agencies.
  • Experience managing public safety, asset protection and network-related risks.
  • Demonstrated incident investigation experience, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant safety, regulatory, planning and industry requirements.
  • Strong influencing, relationship-building and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification, trade qualification, or equivalent demonstrated experience in engineering, electrical, safety, risk, stakeholder engagement, infrastructure, utilities, or a related discipline.
  • Qualification in incident investigation, such as ICAM, Lead Incident Investigator, Government Investigations, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on public safety, network protection and activities near Western Power assets.
  • Assess development applications, land use changes, encroachments and third-party works impacting the network.
  • Build trusted relationships with communities, contractors, developers, industry and government stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations into public safety incidents, asset damage and non-compliance events.
  • Identify root causes and drive sustainable corrective actions and risk mitigation measures.
  • Analyse incident, risk and performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver public safety programs, education initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Partner with operational and project teams to manage third-party risks and support safe, reliable network outcomes.
  • Act as the internal conduit for notifiable investigations and engagement with the regulator.
