Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW – Orange NSW is recruiting a Senior Project Officer to support robust governance frameworks and high-quality project delivery. You will work with the team and stakeholders to implement project plans and provide governance reporting and documentation.

The role requires experience managing complex projects in regulatory or resource-related settings and strong communication to engage diverse stakeholders.

• Temporary 12 month opportunity – with possibility of extension
• Full-time role at 35 hours per week + FlexTime
• Salary ranges from $133,348.00 to $146,945.00 + super& leave loading

About the Role

As a Senior Project Officer, you will have the opportunity to influence meaningful outcomes by supporting robust governance frameworks, informed decision making and high-quality project delivery.

Working in collaboration with the team and key stakeholders, some of your primary responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing project plans, interpreting legislation into practical governance processes, consulting with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting governance reporting and documentation
• Undertake research and formulate recommendations to support evidence-based project planning and decision making.
• Identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Providing regular project updates.
• Developing and maintaining all necessary project documentation including governance frameworks, risk registers, policy reviews and providing secretariat functions to the FJIA Board.

About You

To succeed in this position, you will be a motivated self-starter who takes responsibility and ownership for delivering results. You will have demonstrated experience managing complex projects in a regulatory, policy or resource related environment

You are an effective communicator who can build trusted relationships, navigate competing priorities and confidently engage with a broad range of stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.

As our ideal candidate, you will bring:

• Experience managing or contributing to complex projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation
• The ability to analyse information, solve problems and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations
• Well-developed project management skills, including planning, risk management, monitoring and reporting
• Experience working with regulatory frameworks, ideally within or related to the resources or mining sector
• Prior experience in Board and Secretariat functions
• Resilience, initiative and sound judgement when working in dynamic and changing environments
• Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in project management, business improvement, business analysis, change management, risk management or a related discipline
• Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in a related discipline such as project management, business improvement, business analysis, change management or risk management.
• Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement.
