Responsibilities

• Drive programme, cost, quality, safety and project performance.
• Review construction programmes, methodologies, procurement strategies and contractor performance.
• Identify project risks, constraints and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Manage variations, commercial issues, change control and project reporting.
• Coordinate design, construction and commissioning interfaces.
• Provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards.

About the role

MMD Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a major hyperscale data centre project in Sydney on a 12-month contract, with strong potential for extension to 24 months.

This is a client-side project management role responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex building and infrastructure packages within a live, fast-paced data centre environment.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who has previously delivered data centre or mission-critical projects and understands both the client-side and contractor-side delivery environment.

This is an immediate requirement, and interviews will be commencing straight away.

Key responsibilities

Lead the delivery of major construction packages across a hyperscale data centre project

Manage projects from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover

Manage head contractors, consultants, subcontractors and key project stakeholders

Drive programme, cost, quality, safety and project performance

Review construction programmes, methodologies, procurement strategies and contractor performance

Identify project risks, constraints and potential delays and implement appropriate mitigation strategies

What we're looking for

To be considered for this position, you must have:

Previous experience delivering data centre or hyperscale mission-critical projects

Strong building and construction delivery experience

Previous experience working directly for a head contractor or major construction contractor

Minimum 10 years' experience in construction and project management

Demonstrated experience managing large and complex construction packages

Strong understanding of design management, procurement, construction and commissioning

Excellent contractor and stakeholder management capability

Strong commercial awareness, including cost, variations and programme management

Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or similar

Full Australian working rights

Experience working with major hyperscale data centre operators, developers or Tier 1 contractors will be highly regarded.
