Job summary

The Council of the City of Ryde is seeking a highly capable Project Manager to deliver major infrastructure and community facilities. You will manage planning, design, construction and handover, working with diverse stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes for Ryde.

This role offers a supportive environment with hybrid work options and a starting salary negotiable based on experience. You will bring a civil engineering background, a graduate PM qualification or equivalent experience, and

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar field.
• Graduate diploma in Project Management or significant PM experience.
• Strong planning, scheduling and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of design standards, regulations and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver large-scale infrastructure and building projects from planning through handover.
• Manage project milestones, budgets and procurement.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes.
• Lead a high-performing project management team and foster continuous improvement.
• Prepare executive level reports and contract specifications.

We are building a high‑performing Project Management team and are looking for motivated professionals to be part of our journey.

In this role, you will leverage your strong technical planning skills and development expertise to deliver significant community infrastructure projects, including sports fields, open spaces, and leisure centre facilities. These projects are complex in nature, involving structural works and multi‑storey facilities, and will challenge and grow your professional capability.

You will work closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, managing key milestones and ensuring successful project delivery that supports the strategic objectives of the City of Ryde and enhances community outcomes.

About You

You will be a highly capable and driven Project Manager with proven experience delivering large‑scale infrastructure and complex building projects. Your proactive approach, combined with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, will enable you to bring diverse community projects to successful completion.

You will thrive in a complex matrix environment, confidently managing all aspects of project delivery—from planning and design through to construction and handover. Your ability to navigate multiple priorities, influence outcomes, and collaborate across disciplines will be key to bringing projects across the line.

In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering meaningful community outcomes and shaping the future vision of the City of Ryde. You will lead by example—living our values, empowering our people, and contributing to a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

In addition, you will also have:

• Exceptional knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards, and code of practice relation to the construction and management of infrastructure.
• Significant experience in the management of project finances and budgets, business planning, tendering and contract administration.
• Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence, negotiate, and achieve positive outcomes / resolve complex project management and contractual issues with stakeholders.
• Wide ranging technical knowledge base and experience formulating and implementing innovative project management solutions.
• Excellent written communication skills including the ability to research new subject areas, provide executive level reports, and prepare contract specifications.
• Expert computer skills and proven experience in project management software programs, especially MS Project and MS Project Integration or equivalent program/portfolio scheduling tool
• Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or similar.
• Graduate diploma in Project Management or significant previous experience

Your commencing annual salary will be negotiable for the right applicant,dependent on your experience and qualifications.
