Hitachi Rail STS Australia Pty Ltd in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in rail systems and signalling to lead complex, turnkey projects.

You will oversee ETCS delivery, manage cross-disciplinary teams and ensure safety and continuous improvement while coordinating interfaces and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of firsthand experience delivering complex international projects over $100 million.
  • 5+ years commercial experience in multi-discipline engineering projects including design, procurement, construction, commissioning – ideally rail.
  • Degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Training in PMP, Prince2 or similar.
  • Initiative-taking with strong leadership, organisational, communication and people skills.
  • Agile mindset and ability to take prompt decisions in challenging environments.
  • Ability to work and lead in a multicultural environment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of ETCS on the Southern Portal to Moorooka, accountability for Scope, Time, Cost, Risk, Quality and Change Control.
  • Coordinate engineering, construction, testing & commissioning and verification & validation deliverables.
  • Coordinate engagement of all Participants in resolution of Interface and Possession issues.
  • Facilitate the integrated Assurance process in accordance with the Integrated and Progressive Assurance Strategies.
  • Facilitate the Transition to Operations process following Integration Strategies.
  • Supervise the production of project plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate project reporting in line with Alliance and internal requirements.
  • Contract Administration and coordination of audits.
  • Attend and chair project meetings and prepare progress reports and commercial reports.
  • Ensure activities maintain high levels of safety and continuous improvement.

Job Description:

What are we looking for:

The suitable candidate will have strong experience in project management in rail systems and signalling systems, along with experience in system engineering, testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.

Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling) highly desirable, particularly delivering systems such as ETCS.

The accountabilities of the Senior Project Manager will include but are not limited to:

  • Project Manager the delivery of ETCS on the section Southern Portal to Moorooka, accountability for Scope, Time, Cost, Risk, Quality and Change Control.
  • Manage and coordinate the engineering, construction, testing & commissioning and verification & validation deliverables on the project.

Key Experiences preferred:

The candidate of choice should bring 5+ years of firsthand experience of:

  • Proven record delivering complex and international projects +$100 million, in Systems Delivery
  • Significant commercial experience (5+ years) working in complex, multi-discipline engineering projects including phases of design, procurement, construction, commissioning. Ideally within the rail industry.
  • A degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Training in PMP, Prince 2 or similar Project Management methodology.
  • Initiative-taking, with excellent leadership, organisational, communication and people skills.
  • Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to work and lead in a multicultural environment.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

Key qualifications preferred:

  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management or Construction Management.
  • 5+years’ experience in a project management role,and thishaving this experiencein rail, systems and signalling is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse cultural organization with multiple key stakeholders displaying highly polished interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in effective resource management and collaborating with a large multi-cultural team.
  • Strong working relationships with technology providers.
  • Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
