Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer (ETCS L2) based in Brisbane, Australia. The role covers a wide range of tasks from administration to strategic activities, centred on the testing and integration of complex signalling systems in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field, 5–10 years in rail or related industries, and ideally an IRSE license or electrical trade qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
• IRSE Electronic Systems Tester License or Electrical Trade qualification is desirable.
• 5-10 years’ experience in the Rail or similar industry with demonstrated capability and skills in:

Responsibilities

• Participating in the testing, commissioning and integration of complex signalling systems comprising on-board, trackside, communications and control systems per commissioning procedures.
• Performing factory and site testing as required.
• Participating in fault identification during set to work activities and during commissioning.
• Supporting the Commissioning Manager in timely production of Test Plans, Procedures and Reports.
• Supporting the Commissioning Manager in continuous improvement of project documentation.
• Loading and verification of software configuration.
• Supporting the engineering and validation teams where required including attending project progress meetings.
• Ensuring test and commissioning activities align with Work, Health and Safety requirements of the company and project.
• Assisting in evaluating resource performance and identifying training needs.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer (ETCS L2) who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Participating in the testing and commissioning and integration of complex signalling systems comprising of on-board, trackside, communications and control systems in accordance with the Commissioning procedures.
• Performing factory and site testing as required.
• Participating in fault identification during set to work activities and during commissioning.
• Supporting the Commissioning Manager or his delegate in ensuring the timely production of Test Plans, Procedures and Reports at the project level.
• Supporting the Commissioning Manager or his delegate in the continuous improvement of project documentation.
• Loading and verification of software configuration
• Supporting the engineering and validation teams where required including:
• Attending project progress meetings as and when required.
• Ensure that the test and commissioning activities are executed in alignment with the Work, Health and Safety requirements of the company and the project
• Supporting the Functional Manager in the evaluation of the performance of assigned resources, identifying the need for additional resource with project justification and identifying training needs

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field
• IRSE Electronic Systems Tester License or Electrical Trade qualification is desirable
• 5-10 years’ experience in the Rail or similar industry with demonstrated capability and skills in:
