Job summary

UGL is leading a landmark Logan Gold Coast Faster Rail project in Queensland. The role is based at Beenleigh, focused on delivering upgraded railway signalling infrastructure and enhanced network capacity for South East Queensland.

The candidate will manage scope, schedules, risks and budgets for projects valued between $10M and $50M, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety and compliance with contracts and standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years’ experience with the Rail Signalling Industry (ESSENTIAL)
• Experience managing projects with budgets between $10M and $50M
• Ability to develop methodologies to ensure compliance with scope and technical criteria
• Commercial experience including planning ahead, weekly progress reporting and risk management

Responsibilities

• Managing scope upgrade of existing railway signalling infrastructure and construction of new signalling infrastructure
• Monitoring project to meet programme, budget, quality, environmental and contractual obligations
• Setting up, delivering and completing the project including establishing relevant systems
• Reviewing design and construction plans, schedules, methods and safety/quality documentation
• Assigning tasks to project team members to meet specifications
• Monitoring KPIs and productivity against programme and budget, plus other admin duties

Job description

We are currently seeking a Signalling Senior Project Engineer to join the Logan Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGCFR) Project, a transformative rail infrastructure program that will redefine passenger rail travel between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Delivered by the ActivUs Alliance, this landmark project will expand the rail corridor from two to four tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh, while delivering major station upgrades, enhanced signalling systems and improved network capacity for South East Queensland.

This role will be based at our Beenleigh project office.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing scope including upgrade of existing railway signalling infrastructure, and construction and commissioning of new railway signalling infrastructure
• Managing and monitoring the completion of the project to ensure programme, budget, quality, environmental and contractual obligations are achieved safely, taking prompt corrective action where required
• Managing the effective set-up, delivery and completion of the project including establishing relevant systems
• Reviewing design and construction plans, schedules, temporary works designs, method statements and job safety analysis and quality
• Effectively assigning tasks to project team members to deliver the required outputs to agreed specifications
• Monitoring KPIs and productivity analysis against programme and budget as well as undertaking other administrative duties as required

About You

• Minimum 7 years’ experience with the Rail Signalling Industry - ESSENTIAL
• Manage self and team within discipline to deliver work between $10 and $50M
• Proven ability to develop methodologies to ensure compliance with scope of works and technical criteria
• Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 3 months ahead, weekly reporting on progress against plan and cost, reporting on risk and developing and implementing risk treatment plans
• Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (Mech or Elec.) at degree level will be preferred but not essential
• Queensland Rail Engineering Statement of Competency will be preferred but not essential
• Experience in reviewing design documentation, providing constructive critic (‘constructability’ input) and implementing final designs.
• Australian C Class Driver’s License
