Job summary

Fuse Energy, LLC seeks an Electrical Engineer with 5–10+ years of HV experience in power, utilities, renewables or critical infrastructure in Australia. You will own electrical designs across substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and power distribution from concept through detailed design.

You will ensure compliance with AEMO technical standards, DNSP requirements and AS/NZS electrical standards, support grid connection works, commissioning, testing and handover, and collaborate with

• Proven ability to produce and own electrical designs, not just review others’ work.
• Strong infrastructure delivery experience across utility‑scale solar, BESS, or grid‑connected assets in Australia.
• Deep knowledge of Australian grid standards, AEMO/DNSP requirements, and AS/NZS standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as electrical SME across grid, solar, BESS, and data centre projects; produce and own electrical designs across the portfolio.
• Deliver detailed design across substations, transformers, switchgear, protection, and power distribution.
• Develop design packages from concept through detailed design: single-line diagrams, equipment specs, protection schemes, cable sizing, and earthing/bonding.
• Support grid connection works; ensure compliance with AEMO standards, DNSP requirements, and AS/NZS standards; validate or produce studies (fault level, load flow, protection coordination, harmonics).
• Provide electrical input from development through handover; align design with procurement/construction and resolve technical queries.
• Support and witness testing, energisation, and commissioning; troubleshoot issues and ensure as-builts comply with approved designs.
• Assist technical due diligence and lender advisory; provide engineering assurance across electrical deliverables.

Purpose

Electrical authority across grid connection works, utility-scale solar PV, BESS, and data centre power infrastructure, from development through commissioning and handover. Owns and delivers electrical design while ensuring all systems (generation, storage, demand) are designed, installed, tested, and energised safely, compliantly, and to Australian requirements, providing assurance and challenge across consultants and design partners. Strong preference for candidates with substantial HV experience.

• Deliver detailed design across substations, transformers, switchgear, protection, and power distribution
• Develop design packages from concept through detailed design: single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, protection schemes, cable sizing, and earthing and bonding
• Support grid connection works where required (export and demand), ensure compliance with AEMO technical standards, DNSP requirements, and AS/NZS standards, and validate or produce supporting studies (fault level, load flow, protection coordination, harmonics)
• Provide electrical input from development through handover; align design intent with procurement and construction, and resolve technical queries
• Support and witness testing, energisation, and commissioning (substations, protection, standby/UPS); troubleshoot issues and ensure as-builts comply with approved designs
• Support technical due diligence and lender advisory; provide engineering assurance across all electrical deliverables and act as escalation point for complex issues

• 5–10+ years of electrical engineering experience in power, utilities, renewables, or critical infrastructure; strong preference for substantial HV experience in the Australian market
• Proven design background, able to produce and own electrical designs, not only review others’ work
• Strong infrastructure delivery experience across utility-scale solar, BESS, or grid-connected assets in Australia
• Deep understanding of electrical systems, substations, protection, and power distribution design (generation and demand)
• Working knowledge of Australian grid standards, including AEMO technical requirements, DNSP connection standards, the National Electricity Rules, and AS/NZS electrical standards, with the ability to interpret electrical studies
• Commissioning, testing, and energisation experience on HV infrastructure in the Australian context
• Critical eye for reviewing consultant and subcontractor designs; strong grasp of Australian safety frameworks including the Electricity Safety Act, state-based electrical licensing requirements, and relevant codes of practice
