Job summary

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Project Engineer based in Brisbane, Australia. The role covers a broad range from administrative to strategic tasks within a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in project engineering, with rail systems and signalling experience, and familiarity with turnkey projects such as ETCS, ERTMS and CBTC. Strong stakeholder management and a focus on safety and continuous improvement are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
• 5+ years in a Project Engineering role, with rail, systems and signalling experience.
• Experience with turnkey rail projects and signalling systems (ETCS, ERTMS, CBTC) highly desirable.
• Strong ability to analyse data and inform decisions.

Responsibilities

• Planning of engineering activities with Project Manager and design teams.
• Engineering management, delivery and change control.
• Design review and management.
• Engineering status reporting including risk reviews.
• Technical approvals and configuration management.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Planning of engineering activities in conjunction with the Project Manager, system and subsystem design teams
• Engineering management, delivery, and change management
• Design review and management
• Engineering status reporting incl. risk reviews
• Technical approvals and configuration management
• Systems engineering
• Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvement
• Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of safety

Key knowledge and experience

• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with background in Electrical/Mechanical/Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in a Project Engineering role, with experience in rail, systems and signalling.
• Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling) highly desirable, particularly delivering systems such as ETCS, ERTMS and CBTC.
• Experience in effective resource management and working with a large multi-cultural team.
• Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
• Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
• Ability to analyse data and draw insights to inform decision-making.
• Ability to form and build key stakeholder relationships.
