Job summary

Monadelphous is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the PNG Operations team. The role is based in Brisbane until December, then on-site in Papua New Guinea on a FIFO 4:4 roster, delivering technical excellence across project management, estimating, procurement, and QA.

You will lead planning and delivery of complex projects, manage scope and budgets, and develop commissioning strategies while collaborating with client representatives and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years’ on-site project engineering or coordination experience in large-scale resources oil and gas projects.
• Australian-recognised tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Front-end commissioning experience in bid/tender/shutdown environments.
• Strong technical problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
• Proven communication and collaboration across levels; strong commitment to safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of complex engineering projects through to commissioning and handover.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets and risk to ensure successful outcomes.
• Develop and execute commissioning strategies, plans and schedules.
• Work closely with client representatives to meet their requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between engineering and project delivery teams to ensure compliance with specs and contracts.
• Oversee resolution of technical queries as required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join Monadelphous PNG Operations team until mid-2028, based in the Brisbane office until December then on site in Papua New Guinea on a FIFO 4:4 roster. This high paced position will provide technical expertise across project management, estimating, procurement, contractual correspondence, quality assurance, and internal/external stakeholder management for a program of works.

• Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex engineering projects through to commissioning and handover.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation activities to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Develop and execute commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules to support successful project delivery.
• Work closely with client representatives and deliver to meet their requirements
• Manage the interface between the engineering and project delivery teams to maintain compliance with the specifications, schedules and contract
• Manage and supervise the resolution of technical queries as required

What you will bring:

• 5+ years experience working in an on-site project engineering or coordination position for large-scale resources oil and gas projects.
• An Australian recognised, tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Trade Certificate.
• Front end commissioning experience working within bid, tender, shutdown, and project environments, with exposure to planning, execution, testing, and handover activities.
• Strong written and technical skills, with an innovative approach to technical problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Well-developed communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to foster interpersonal relationships across all levels
• A strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
• Proof of right to work in Australia and a valid passport
