Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a senior Project Engineer to lead engineering delivery for a rail package on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. You will guide Project Engineers, manage subcontractors, and oversee look-ahead programs, cost control, and design options to meet safety, program, and budget goals.

The role requires an engineering degree, rail delivery experience (desirable), and proficiency with Primavera P6 or MS Project. A Construction Safety Awareness Card is essential.

Project Information:

ACCIONA is part of CoastalTraX, delivering the greenfield works for Stage 1 of The Wave: 19 kilometres of dual-track passenger rail between Beerwah and Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Backed by $5.5 billion in joint government funding, the project is part of Queensland's infrastructure pipeline ahead of Brisbane 2032 and is now in design and preconstruction.

About the Opportunity:

Report to the Area Manager and lead engineering delivery for your package of works in Civil, Structures or PUPs. You guide a team of Project Engineers and work with subcontractors, designers and the client to deliver safely, on program and to budget. You own short-term programs, monthly forecasting and subcontract administration, and advise on design options and construction methods. You will also prepare authority submissions and keep every party working from current documentation. Join while the project is in design and preconstruction and help set the delivery standard ahead of Brisbane 2032.

Key accountabilities for the position will be:

• Lead engineering delivery of your work package safely, on program and to budget
• Guide Project Engineers and set goals aligned to project outcomes
• Manage subcontractor scopes, payments, variations and contract administration
• Control costs, forecast monthly and identify risks and opportunities early
• Prepare look-ahead programs and notify delays and extensions of time promptly
• Enforce quality, safety and environmental plans and close out defects and non-conformances
• Prepare authority submissions and coordinate documentation between designers and site

What capability and experience will you need to have:

• Valid Construction Safety Awareness Card (essential)
• Engineering degree or relevant tertiary qualification (preferred)
• Construction or engineering delivery experience, rail desirable
• Planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project (preferred)
