Job summary

Terra Mining Pty is seeking an accomplished underground mining leader to fill the Senior Project Director – Underground Contract Mining role, reporting to the COO. You will guide strategic growth, mobilise major contracts and build a high-performance leadership team across Australia.

You will champion safety, integrity and commercial delivery while fostering client partnerships and operational excellence as Terra Mining expands nationally with the support of JCHX Mining Management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years' experience in underground hard rock mining.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in senior operational or executive leadership positions.
• Proven experience mobilising underground mining projects from contract award to steady-state.
• Experience leading multiple underground contract mining operations or major underground projects.
• Extensive experience managing operational performance, commercial outcomes and project profitability.
• Experience operating within Australian mining legislation, Work Health and Safety legislation and contractor management obligations.
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Project Director will become a member of Terra Mining's Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership across the Company's underground contract mining portfolio.

The role will be instrumental in establishing Terra Mining as a leading underground contract mining partner, supporting major resource clients across Australia as the business continues its national expansion.

Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, you will develop strategic client partnerships, secure new business opportunities, oversee the successful mobilisation and delivery of major underground mining projects and build the operational capability required to support long-term business growth.

While the primary focus is underground contract mining, the position will also contribute to Terra Mining's broader mining services strategy and support collaboration across the Company's open-cut operations.

The position will provide leadership and mentoring to Project Managers, Underground Managers and future operational leadership appointments as Terra Mining continues to expand nationally.

Key Accountabilities

• Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and execute Terra Mining's underground growth strategy.
• Develop strategic relationships with existing and prospective clients, leading business development initiatives, tender submissions, contract negotiations and successful project mobilisation.
• Provide senior leadership across Terra Mining's underground contract mining portfolio, ensuring safe, commercially successful and operationally excellent project delivery.
• Assume full operational and commercial accountability for assigned underground projects, including profitability, financial performance, productivity and client satisfaction.
• Lead the mobilisation of new mining contracts from project award through to operational delivery.
• Develop annual business plans, operational budgets and long-term growth strategies for the underground business.
• Champion a culture of visible safety leadership, critical risk management and statutory compliance across all operations.
• Build, mentor and develop high-performing operational leadership teams capable of supporting sustained national growth.
• Drive operational excellence through innovation, digital reporting systems, continuous improvement and performance optimisation.
• Represent Terra Mining professionally with clients, industry stakeholders, regulators and executive forums.

About You

You are an accomplished underground mining senior leader with extensive experience leading major underground contract mining operations.

You have successfully mobilised large-scale mining projects, built high-performing operational teams and developed long-term relationships with major mining companies. You possess the commercial judgement, operational expertise and strategic leadership capability to grow a national underground mining business.

You are equally comfortable engaging with Boards, executive leadership, clients and operational teams, providing strategic direction while maintaining a practical understanding of project delivery.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 15 years' experience within underground hard rock mining.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in senior operational or executive leadership positions.

• Proven capability leading organisational growth, operational transformation and business expansion.
• Experience leading underground mining operations across Australia, with international mining experience highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience operating within Australian statutory mining frameworks, including working with Site Senior Executives and statutory appointment holders.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian mining legislation, Work Health and Safety legislation and contractor management obligations.
• Experience implementing operational systems, reporting frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and business performance.
• Proven ability to build, mentor and lead multidisciplinary leadership teams.
• Exceptional commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.

Highly Regarded

• Western Australian First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
• Current or previous appointment as a Site Senior Executive (SSE) or equivalent statutory appointment.
• Experience acting as the statutory Mine Manager for underground hard rock operations.
• Executive leadership experience with a global underground mining contractor.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Established relationships across the Australian underground mining sector.
