Job summary

Downer is seeking a senior leader to oversee a national Substations and Battery Energy Storage Systems portfolio across Australia. You will ensure safe, compliant delivery while achieving financial targets and maintaining client relationships.

You will report to the General Manager and lead teams delivering major energy infrastructure projects valued up to A$100 million, with a focus on governance, risk and performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Senior project leader with extensive experience in utilities, energy infrastructure or heavy engineering.
• Demonstrated leadership of substations, BESS, transmission or similar networks.
• Strong governance, assurance, audit and disciplined delivery understanding.

Responsibilities

• Lead the national Substations and BESS portfolio to achieve safety, financial, schedule and client outcomes.
• Provide visible Zero Harm leadership through site engagement and risk management.
• Direct project planning, resourcing, budgets, cost control, risk, quality and reporting.
• Maintain commercial discipline across variations, delays and claims.
• Own portfolio financial performance including budgets, forecasts, revenue and cash flow.
• Ensure smooth bid-to-delivery transitions with clear scope and risks.
• Contribute to bids with delivery strategy, resourcing and pricing assumptions.
• Develop capable teams through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Drive standardised systems, reporting and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
