Job summary

Commonwealth Bank of Australia is building a new Product Engineering crew focused on full-stack products and platforms that make a difference across the bank. You’ll lead approximately 15 engineers across two to three squads in an environment balancing product ownership with scale and enterprise impact.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll provide technical leadership, people leadership and delivery accountability, shaping direction through change and fostering an environment where engineers

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading multiple engineering squads or similar teams.
• Strong experience with Java and TypeScript, including Node.js and modern front-end frameworks.
• Experience designing, building and operating solutions on AWS.
• Knowledge of microservices, API-driven architectures and container platforms like Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and grow high-performing engineering teams with accountability and curiosity.
• Set technical direction and guide design/architecture across full-stack products and platforms.
• Own delivery across the product lifecycle, supporting teams to build, run and improve solutions.
• Remain technically engaged, contributing to design discussions and code where valuable.
• Partner with Product to translate complex problems into clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
• Build scalable, secure cloud-native solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Mentor engineers to raise capability and establish clear expectations.
