The role requires formal qualifications in procurement, autonomous work style under tight deadlines, and proficiency with MS Office; experience with Technology One Procure to Pay is desirable.

  • Draft and review complex procurement documentation including plans, tenders, evaluation plans, risk assessments, negotiation strategies, and contracts.
  • Support business/process improvement projects and governance activities.
  • Assist with reporting, tender publication, helpdesk tasks, and team training.
  • Maintain procurement and contract data in relevant systems.

Job description

Seeking a Senior Procurement and Contract Officer with experience in strategic or complex procurement initiatives within the public or private sector.

Reporting to the Assistant Director Procurement and Contracts, and in line with strategic objectives, the Senior Procurement and Contract Officer has the following key responsibilities:

  • The provision of timely and accurate advice on minor and simple procurement and contract matters
  • Leading strategic and/or complex procurement matters in collaboration with subject matter experts
  • drafting and/or reviewing complex procurement documentation including procurement plans, request for tenders, evaluation plans, risk assessments, negotiation strategies and contractual documents
  • supporting and contributing to the achievement of business and process improvement projects
  • support for other related tasks, including but not limited to, reporting, governance and assurance, administration (i.e., group mailbox management, tender publication, helpdesk/phone line attendance etc) and training to achieve the objectives of the Procurement and Contract Management Team
  • interpreting and applying policies and processes and take a flexible approach to provide practical solutions to the business and be a team player who actively shares ideas and supports others for the success of the team.
  • Establish and maintain procurement and contract details in relevant systems.
Mandatory Requirements
  1. Formal Qualifications and/or extensive knowledge and experience in procurement and contracting
  2. Practical experience in strategic and/or complex procurement initiatives within the public and/or private sector
  3. Ability to work autonomously under limited direction to deliver quality and advice with competing priorities and deadlines
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft suit of products, including creating and maintaining spread sheets and various internal data bases. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems.
Desirable Requirements
  1. In depth knowledge of the Australian Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Framework (or industry equivalents)
  2. Previous experience using Technology One Procure to Pay

6 Month Contract with 1 x 6 months extension option
