Defence Contracts - Advisory - Permanent full time role.

YOU MUST HOLD NV1, NV2 OR TSPV - THIS IS ESSENTIAL!

My Canberra based client has a long and hard-earned reputation in the Defence equipment sector. As the Contracts & Procurement PM you’ll be responsible for managing and delivering highly complex military contracts across a wide range of machines and customers. Alongside managing existing business, your role will involve the analysis of opportunity portals to identify future contracts from start to finish, management of existing customer relationships and the development of tender documents using the experience and expertise of multiple facets of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and delivery support across the full procurement lifecycle, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, contract establishment, and ongoing management.
  • Lead or contribute to complex procurement activities under Commonwealth frameworks (CPRs, PGPA Act), including within secure or classified environments.
  • Drive Defence Investment Committee and Gateway process outcomes for major capability programs.
  • Develop high-quality procurement documentation, contracts, reports, and briefings.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to enable effective procurement and project outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply Commonwealth policies, guidelines, and probity requirements to ensure compliance and value for money.
  • Contribute to the growth of clients commercial practice by mentoring others, supporting business development, or enhancing delivery frameworks.

Qualifications

We are looking for professionals who bring:

  • Demonstrated experience across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle in government, Defence, or secure environments.
  • Experience managing or advising on complex programs, contract negotiations, and investment approval processes.
  • A proactive, consultative approach with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation capability, including with senior leaders.
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth procurement frameworks and contract compliance.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced and dynamic client environments.
  • Active security clearance at NV1, NV2, or TSPV level (depending on role).
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in procurement, commercial law, project management, or business (highly regarded).
