Job summary

Randstad Australia is seeking a motivated Procurement Officer for a defence-focused environment. This permanent, full-time position delivers key administrative and operational support across the procurement lifecycle, aiding project teams with supplier management, purchasing processes and compliance.

You will maintain supplier data, process requisitions, monitor PO status, and work with finance to resolve discrepancies, while supporting audits and training materials.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement or purchasing within complex projects, preferably defence or technical manufacturing.
• Ability to navigate procurement processes, supplier management and compliance.
• Proficiency with MS Office and procurement tools such as MEX is required.
• Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance is essential.
• Willingness to travel interstate or intrastate as needed for business.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supplier database and assist with supplier evaluations and pricing, availability, delivery updates.
• Process purchase requisitions, monitor PO status and manage system approvals using MEX.
• Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate PO/receipt/invoice and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with audits, create procurement training materials and support stakeholders.

About The Opportunity

We are currently partnering with one of the leading organizations in the defence sector that are seeking a motivated and evolving Procurement Officer to join a growing team. This role delivers vital administrative and operational support across the procurement lifecycle, assisting project teams with supplier management, purchasing processes, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the core supplier database, assist with supplier evaluations against quality and risk parameters, and serve as a point of contact for pricing, availability, and delivery updates.
• Ensure purchasing activities align with internal compliance and financial controls. Process purchase requisitions, monitor PO status, and manage system approvals using MEX.
• Work alongside the finance team to ensure accurate PO, receipt, invoice and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with internal and external audit documentation, create procurement training materials, and support internal stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Experience in a procurement or purchasing function or extensive project administration experience in complex, technical projects. Experience in Defence, aerospace, or technical manufacturing environments is highly regarded.
• Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint) and familiarity with CMMS/procurement tools like MEX
• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Defence Security Clearance
• Flexibility for occasional interstate or intrastate travel as needed for professional development or customer interaction
