Job summary

NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is seeking a Senior Procurement Advisor to lead procurement, contract management and assurance for major infrastructure construction projects in the Wollongong, Newcastle or Sydney region.

The role supports Project Managers with strategic procurement expertise and staff training, and serves as the Senior Executive on construction contracts.

Qualifications

  • Extensive demonstrated experience as project, procurement and contract management lead on complex infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Government policies, process and frameworks.
  • Experience in construction contract dispute resolution.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and capacity to regularly travel to offices across the Region.

This role offers flexible, people-first working conditions

  • 35‑hour base working week
  • Flexible start and finish times between 6am and 10pm, with core hours of 10am–3pm

About The Role

NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

The Senior Procurement Advisor will be responsible for the Region’s innovative, high-quality construction procurement, contract management and assurance services to clients, staff capability and succession planning, system compliance and continuous improvement, and pragmatic input and support into Whole-of-Government construction procurement category initiatives.

In this role, you will support Project Managers by providing strategic procurement expertise, train staff and government clients in contract management, act as the Senior Executive on the Region’s construction contracts, and when applicable, senior project manager and/or assurance lead on key NSW Public Works projects or programs and provider of WofG construction procurement assurance for unaccredited Agencies.

About You
  • Extensive demonstrated experience as project, procurement and contract management lead on complex infrastructure and construction projects
  • Knowledge of relevant Government policies, process and frameworks
  • Detailed knowledge of best practice construction project management and quality processes and frameworks, and experience using common industry ICT platforms
  • Appropriate qualifications and extensive working experience leading project management, procurement and contract management activities on engineering and/or construction jobs.
  • Experience in construction contract dispute resolution.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and capacity to regularly travel to offices across the Region
