Job summary

James Hardie Industries in Rosehill, near Parramatta, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to own fibre cement manufacturing processes. You’ll lead cross-site process improvement initiatives, apply first principles engineering, and drive efficiency, quality, and cost improvements across multiple lines.

You’ll mentor engineers, partner with Operations, Maintenance and PCI engineers, and champion lean methods and data-driven decision making within a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering preferably, or an equivalent discipline.
• 15+ years’ experience in a process engineering role within a complex, continuous or batch manufacturing environment.
• Deep knowledge of fibre cement manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of pumps, piping systems, instrumentation and their application within industrial operations.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving root causes of complex manufacturing performance issues.
• Capability to deliver hands-on training and structured classroom-style instruction.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and influence skills.
• Sound analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, cross-site process improvement initiatives to deliver gains in efficiency, quality, throughput and cost performance.
• Provide advanced chemical and process engineering expertise, ensuring compliance with standards and contributing to manufacturing innovations.
• Plan, conduct and manage process audits and translate findings into prioritized improvement actions.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Projects to influence design and capital investment decisions.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Champion best practice sharing and standardization across sites.
• Utilise data-driven analysis and Lean methodologies to identify root causes and deliver sustainable performance improvements.
