Job summary

Egis is seeking a Primary Engineer to join the National Substations design team in Australia. You will develop designs for brownfield and greenfield substations across Australia, working through the stages from preliminary to issued for construction.

Ideally, you will have 5+ years in electrical transmission projects, a degree in electrical engineering, and certifications (RPEV/RPEQ). You’ll collaborate across disciplines, manage RFI responses and support construction activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent).
• RPEV and RPEQ certification.
• Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Relevant work rights to live and work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Undertake designs of primary systems for substations including layouts and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with AS 2067, AS 62271, IEC 60076 standards.
• Perform insulation coordination, short-circuit, earthing and cable studies.
• Lead design reviews and risk assessments (SiD, QA).
• Coordinate with protection & control, civil, structural and SCADA teams.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
