Job summary

Vena Energy in Australia seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to provide hands-on electrical engineering support across renewable energy assets. You will focus on HV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, BOP infrastructure and plant troubleshooting, guiding incident investigations and performance improvements to reduce downtime.

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering and Reliability, you will collaborate with Operations, site teams and OEMs to ensure safe, reliable operation

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5–10 years’ experience in electrical engineering within power generation or similar infrastructure.
• Experience with HV/LV systems and plant electrical infrastructure.
• Experience supporting live operating assets.
• Understanding of plant performance drivers and electrical losses.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all electrical engineering activities comply with electrical safety standards and site procedures.
• Support safe execution of electrical work across HV and LV systems.
• Provide engineering input into incident investigations, especially electrical faults and failures.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for plant electrical systems (SLDs, protection coordination).
• Provide inputs into operational reporting and performance analysis where electrical systems impact performance.
• Assist in evaluating vendor proposals and scopes of work.
• Work with OEMs, contractors, and service providers to resolve electrical and plant issues.
• Provide technical oversight during contractor-led works and review contractor performance.
