Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Engineer – Power Systems with 6+ years of experience to lead grid connection studies for renewable energy and transmission projects in Australia. You will develop EMT/RMS models, perform comprehensive power-system analyses, and produce technical reports for GPS and AEMO compliance.

The role requires strong knowledge of NER and GPS, experience with PSCAD/PSS/E/PowerFactory, and excellent communication to liaise with developers, OEMs and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 6+ years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the Australian NEM.
• RPEQ, CPEng or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Demonstrated experience delivering grid connection studies for renewable energy, BESS or transmission projects.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO requirements and Generator Performance Standards (GPS).
• Experience with power system software such as PSCAD, PSS®E, PowerFactory, EMTP or equivalent.
• Proven capability in EMT modelling and analysis of inverter-based resources.
• Strong technical report writing, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Project management and client-facing consulting experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute generator, battery energy storage, solar and wind farm grid connection studies in accordance with AEMO, NSP and NER requirements.
• Develop and validate RMS and EMT models for inverter-based resources and network assets.
• Perform power system studies including load flow, fault level, dynamic stability, system strength, harmonic and EMT analyses.
• Prepare technical reports and support R0/R1/R2 modelling and GPS compliance processes.
• Interface with developers, OEMs, network service providers, AEMO and other stakeholders throughout the connection process.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and quality assurance for power system studies and deliverables.
• Support project development, due diligence and technical advisory services for renewable energy and transmission projects.
