Job summary

Fyfe, a leading Australian integrated engineering, environment, planning, and survey consultancy, is expanding its Power & Connection capability and seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead generator and grid connection studies across Australia, using PSSE, PSCAD and DIgSILENT.

You will oversee R0, R1, and R2 grid connections, drive long-term planning and budgeting, and deliver projects on time within budget while advancing technical standards in renewable energy, data centres, and storage

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering; Chartered, RPEQ, or RPEV status desirable.
• 10+ years of grid connection project experience with knowledge of R0, R1, and R2 studies.
• Strong knowledge of TNSP, DNSP and AEMO requirements; proficient in PSSE, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of major grid connection projects (R0, R1, R2) across generation tech in Australia.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, Fyfe is expanding its Power & Connection capability and is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to assist with developing our grid connection team. The senior power systems engineer is responsible for technical leadership of generator and grid connection projects including power systems modelling studies and analysis for new solar farm, wind farm, BESS and hybrid generator connections throughout Australia, using tools such as PSSE, PSCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.

The Opportunity

This is a senior position suited to an engineer with specialist expertise in grid connection studies from concept through to execution.

You will be instrumental in delivering complex data centre, renewable energy and storage projects, advancing technical standards, and supporting the continued growth of our sustainable energy portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of major projects, including R0, R1, and R2 grid connections across diverse generation technologies within Australia.
• Oversee long-term planning, tracking, and budgeting for key initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Drive results that significantly impact the company's strategic goals and objectives.
• Accountable for the successful execution and budget management of several major projects.
• Power system analysis for utility-scale networks including steady state and dynamic system studies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering; Chartered, RPEQ, or RPEV status desirable
• Minimum 10 years' experience in grid connection projects with strong knowledge of R0, R1, and R2 connection studies
• Deep understanding of TNSP, DNSP, and AEMO requirements and proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD, DIgSILENT
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills with a collaborative mindset
• Thorough understanding of the generator connection process in Australia (Chapter 5 and 5A) and the obligations of each party (NSPs, AEMO, Proponent etc).
