Job summary

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action VIC in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Policy Officer, Planning to drive reform aligned with the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Amendment Act 2023. You will design and implement new Victoria Planning Provisions and provide policy advice to senior executives.

The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, project governance and evidence-based approaches with a hybrid work arrangement from 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in planning, environment, natural resource management, economics, law, public policy or another relevant field is mandatory.
• Experience in developing and implementing complex planning or regulatory reforms, including drafting amendments to statutory instruments.
• Highly developed stakeholder management and teamwork skills for diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Comprehensive research and analytical skills with ability to develop innovative policy solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports, briefs and executive advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative policy advice to the Minister and Executives.
• Manage complex projects within governance and timeframes.
• Engage with stakeholders including industry, local government, Traditional Owners and community groups to deliver reforms.
• Design and implement planning provisions and ensure alignment with relevant legislation.
