Job summary

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action in Victoria seeks an experienced Director, Policy and Regulatory Reform to lead policy and regulatory reform across the earth resources sector, guiding investment and responsible development.

You will advise the Minister and executives, build relationships with industry and communities, oversee cabinet submissions, and steer a high-performing branch to deliver outcomes in mining, quarrying, petroleum and critical minerals.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in natural resources, economics, law, business, public policy or related field.
• Proven experience leading policy or regulatory reform in government or a regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing skills and sound judgement.
• Experience as a people leader with focus on outcomes and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic policy and regulatory reform initiatives across Victoria's earth resources sector.
• Provide authoritative advice to the Minister and senior decision-makers on complex issues.
• Build productive relationships across government, industry and communities to influence reform outcomes.
• Engage strategically with industry bodies, local government and communities to understand issues and risks.
• Oversee Cabinet submissions, ministerial briefings and executive reports.
• Lead a high-performing branch and contribute to divisional leadership.
