Job summary

MacDonnell Regional Council in Alice Springs is seeking a Senior Plant Operator to lead and operate heavy plant across Central Australia, including remote communities.

With around 5 years of plant experience, a Diploma or Certificate III, and current tickets, you will supervise teams, perform pre-start checks and contribute to remediation and civil works across road networks and public spaces.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years of experience operating plant and heavy equipment.
• Diploma or Certificate III in a related field.
• Current plant and equipment tickets.
• HC Driver's License and Construction White Card or willingness to obtain them.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Commitment to safety and working across remote communities.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy plant including loaders, excavators, graders and trucks.
• Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance.
• Contribute to remediation and civil works projects.
• Lead and mentor supporting staff in a remote community setting.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with around 5 years of experience operating plant, with a relevant Diploma or Certificate III to accompany this. You'll be a team player and someone who can lead and motivate those around you.

You’ll Need

• Relevant and current plant and equipment tickets, with demonstrated experience operating heavy machinery including loaders, excavators, graders and trucks
• A current HC Driver's License and Construction White Card or willingness to obtain them
• Proven ability to work safely, including conducting pre-start checks, inspections and minor maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Adaptability, collaboration, and passion to make a difference
• Experience in undertaking remediation and civil construction capital works including waste management facilities, road networks and public open spaces
