Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Piping Designer in our Industrial team based in Brisbane to deliver brownfield gas projects. You will lead piping design from site verification to detailed design, and work with engineers and clients to develop safe, constructible solutions for operating facilities.

You will use Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD for intelligent modelling, coordinate across disciplines, lead design reviews, and mentor designers while collaborating with Aurecon’s Global Design Centre.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering brownfield piping design for oil, gas, LNG or heavy industry.
• Senior-level piping design including equipment layouts and tie-ins.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD with isometric output.
• Understanding of piping codes, standards and safe design in operating facilities.
• Strong design checking and cross-disciplinary coordination.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Piping Designer in our Industrial team based in Brisbane, you’ll play a key role in delivering brownfield and sustaining capital projects across the gas industry. This is an opportunity to work closely with engineers, designers, project teams and clients, taking piping designs from site verification and early concepts through to detailed design and delivery. You’ll bring your practical design experience to complex operating environments, helping develop solutions that are safe, constructible and designed with operations in mind.

• Lead piping design across brownfield gas facilities, including layouts, 3D models, general arrangements, isometrics, tie-ins and piping support details.
• Develop intelligent piping models in Autodesk Plant 3D, bringing together engineering inputs, point-cloud data, existing drawings and site information.
• Work across process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical and instrumentation disciplines to develop integrated and practical design solutions.
• Play a senior role in design reviews, checking and constructability, resolving clashes and design issues before they reach site.
• Get closer to the assets through site investigations and field verification, supporting brownfield tie-ins and incorporating existing asset information into your designs.
• Collaborate through Autodesk Forma and work with Aurecon’s Global Design Centre to coordinate design packages and technical inputs across distributed teams.
• Share your knowledge and provide technical guidance to designers and drafters, helping build capability and consistency across the team.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced piping designer who understands that good brownfield design goes beyond the model. You know how decisions around routing, access, maintainability, constructability, and tie‑ins can make a real difference in an operating facility.

• A diploma, advanced diploma or equivalent qualification in engineering design or drafting, with strong piping design experience across oil and gas, LNG, energy, resources or heavy industrial environments.
• Senior-level experience delivering brownfield piping design, including equipment layouts, pipe routing, tie‑ins, piping supports and constructability.
• Advanced capability in Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD, including intelligent modelling, orthographic drawings and isometric production.
• A strong understanding of piping design practices, relevant codes and standards and designing safely within operating facilities.
• Strong design checking and multidisciplinary coordination skills, with the confidence to work independently and guide others.
• Experience with Autodesk Forma and distributed design teams would be highly regarded.
