Job summary

Canberra Health Services is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmacist to lead the Medicines Repackaging Service within the Pharmacy Department. This role combines advanced clinical practice with governance, quality management, and technology-enabled service improvement to support patient care across CHS.

You will oversee multi-dose sachet packaging, unit-dose repackaging, prepacking, relabelling, quality assurance and medicines governance, while mentoring staff, driving continuous improvement,

Qualifications

• Registered pharmacist with hospital pharmacy experience and medicines repackaging
• Strong leadership, governance, quality management and patient safety focus
• Experience with technology-enabled service improvement and staff development

Are you an experienced hospital pharmacist looking to lead a specialised service at the forefront of medication safety, quality assurance, and pharmacy innovation?

Canberra Health Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacist - Medicines Repackaging Services to lead the delivery, governance, and future development of our growing Medicines Repackaging Service. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical and operational pharmacy practice with leadership, quality management, and technology-enabled service improvement.

Working within a dynamic Pharmacy Department of approximately 150 staff, you will oversee a specialised service responsible for multi-dose sachet packaging, unit-dose repackaging, prepacking, relabelling, quality assurance, and medicines governance activities that support patient care across the health service.

As the Senior Pharmacist, you will:

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Medicines Repackaging Service.
• Provide expert advice on medicine stability, expiry determination, packaging suitability, and medication safety.
• Drive quality assurance, governance, audit, accreditation, and compliance activities.
• Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and workflow optimisation.
• Lead implementation and validation of repackaging technologies and digital systems.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop pharmacists, technicians, interns, and students.
• Contribute to the strategic growth and future direction of medicines repackaging services across CHS.

About You

You are a registered pharmacist with demonstrated experience in hospital pharmacy, medicines repackaging, medication production, or operational pharmacy services. You possess strong leadership and communication skills and are passionate about quality, governance, patient safety, and developing high-performing teams.
